Update on Ez-Vex Customer's Reviews

In the last few days we have received some updates on a couple of our Ez-Vex Sharpeners.  They sound like they are all doing really fine.  They are building their new sharpening business and things are looking up for these guys.  Its GREAT that a business can be built from the ground up in such a short time as long as the new customer is willing to work hard and practice their new found skill.

That's right, sharpening is a skill.  There is money to be made in sharpening BUT, you need to take any and all training and also be dedicated and continue to practice and seek advise while your out in your field building relationships with Groomers, Barbers, Beauticians, Stylists, Nail Techs and many many other professionals who need their instruments sharpened.

Below is what a few of our Ez-Vex customers have to say as they update us on their business.

First letter is from Ed Williams from Newfoundland Canada (On Site Sharpening)
Hi Mike and Pam,
Just a quick note, one again Mike thanks for all the advice you have given me over the phone I really do appreciate it. Today I was called in to one of the top salons in the city to do a couple of sharpenings. After completing the job the owner informed me that I would be getting all the work from his three salons. That's a great client to have once I tell people that I'm sharpening for this High-end salon I'm sure it will be very beneficial in obtaining new clients.(As you said it will take some time to build a customer base, all the work that I have done so far I have received nothing but positive feed back and this is all because of the help that you have given me and the fantastic job that the EZ-Vex sharpening system does.)
Thank You Once again.   Ed.
We are thrilled that Ed is growing his business and that his clients like his sharpening work he is doing on the Ez-Vex.  Keep up the Good work Ed.
Second Letter is from Juan down in Orlando FL.  (The Cutting Edge)
Dear Pam & Mike,
I can’t explain in words how grateful I am with the Clipper Shack. Anyone looking to start a sharpening business should seriously consider buying their equipment from you all. Your nipper sharpening and shear sharpening systems are both one of a kind and extremely effective.  Your customer service and support is exceptional.

The nipper machine is small, light weight, and mobile. The mechanism to adjust the nipper and sharpen it is extremely effective and quick. I highly recommended it. It allows you to service all nail salons quickly and effectively. The EZ -Vex shear sharpening system is outstanding.  Just like the nipper machine, it’s small, light weight and mobile. The learning curve to use the system is the best in the industry to sharpen shears.

As much as I like all your sharpening systems, your customer service and support is exceptional. Being a novice in the industry, I was heavily disadvantaged out in the field. Pam and Mike quickly got me up to speed on industry information and standards. They truly made me feel I was part of the Clipper Shack team. Pam and Mike fielded all my questions without exception (even weekends). They truly made a difference for me.   Thank You for all your support.  Sincerely,

Juan Plaza  / The Cutting Edge   /  Orlando, FL

Its Great to hear Juan doing so well, he is in a tough market sharpening in FL, ( every traveling sharpener goes there to sharpen while on vacation)   But, his clients are starting to see that Juan has the latest and newest sharpening system out on the market,  His work is really being noticed and those "drive-by" sharpeners, will soon only be vacationing in the sunshine state.

If your interested in making some extra money in this rough economy, try giving sharpening a chance.  with good equipment, good training, and good support when your in the field, you can help earn extra money.   Check out our website at http://www.clippershack.com/ and see our sharpening equipment and also read our other reviews and Testimonials we have on our site.

Whats Important for your Business to be a Success?

Now that you have decided to bring in extra income ( or to change your life's path and start your own business)   You want to make sure your business grows and becomes successful.

You need the knowledge of sharpening,  No matter what sharpening system you have decided to purchase, you should take the training the manufacture offers.  Nothing ( not even instructional DVD's ) can replace good hands on training.   If you want your clients to trust you with their professional equipment to sharpen, then you MUST be properly trained.

After all, the Stylist, Groomers and Barbers all took classes and training to get where they are today, They will not be happy to know that YOU decided it was to expensive or to far away to take the training needed to PROPERLY operate the sharpening system you are about to use on their shears, nippers or blades.

Growing a Business takes skill, training, dedication and education.  If you are NOT willing to devote time to any of those things, then maybe you shouldn't be starting a sharpening business.  Buying the Equipment is only the beginning of your new adventure.  Now that you have your equipment, watch any and all instructional DVD's then practice, then call up the Manufacture of your sharpening equipment and make an appointment to TAKE their TRAINING.

We have watched the most successful new sharpeners excel in business once they have taken the hands on training.  And since the Ez-Vex is a New Concept in Sharpening, even the seasoned sharpeners should always take advantage of the FREE training that is offered.  this is because it is a new way to sharpen and they need to learn to operate this machine Properly.

Gary from Green Valley Sales and Sharpening took all the Training that was made available to him.  He worked hard to gain the training and education it takes to become a qualified sharpener.  And because of his determination, dedication, training and further education, his stylists and barbers have made some great comments about his work and our Ez-Vex sharpening system.

If you are from the West Coast and would like to see the Ez-Vex in action, Gary can be (by appointment) made available  to show the Ez-Vex in the surrounding  areas of Vegas.
For more Information on the Ez-Vex see our website at http://www.clippershack.com/

Sharpening Work In Progress

Here at the Clipper Shack , we are always working to try to learn and improve on sharpening compounds, techniques and process.  If we really want our industry to keep making advances, we all need to strive to learn more and always be OPEN MINDED to new ideas and products.

If you think about it, being a carpenter has changed greatly over the years, They no longer only use (just the normal claw hammer)  Now they have Nail Guns for all types of building work.  This has really made building easier and more efficient.

Can you still build a house by hand using just the claw hammer?  Yes, the Original Hammer still works, But, common sense tells you that advances in the industry have made it easier and more time effective.

Same is true with the Sharpening Industry. (Think About It)  Advances have been made, people just need to be Open Minded and Think about it.  It doesnt mean that sharpening by hand doesnt work, time and concepts change.

We sent out some FREE samples of new compound sticks to our Ez-Vex Customers, So far many seem pleased.  Below is one review that was sent in to us.

O' ya,  the new stick polishes are great it's like having a new toy to play with .  I really get a kick out of doing a better job . The grey polishing stick does quick work on removing a beveled edge on a convex shear & the blue puts the mirror finish back on .
Great job Clipper Shack . I know you’re working on two other accessories  please let me know when they're ready .   Rodney Brusuelas of All Sharp 505-401-6426 ,all_sharp_a@yahoo.com, www.allsharpusdirectory.com

If your an Ez-Vex Owner and you havent gotten your FREE Sample yet, give me a call at the Clipper Shack so I can make sure you get one in the mail.  740-671-1940

Sharpening Tip for the Week

Trying to Build Your Sharpening Business?

Focus on your Customer Service.   This applies to all business types.  It is important to be there to help answer your clients questions.  Show them any options they may have.  Keep them informed.  All this is very important when developing a trusting relationship with your customer.

Show them any problems you may have with the item you are about to sharpen.  If you point out a problem to them, be sure and have a solution to the problem for them as well.

Listen to what they have to say, even if they have complaints or concerns,  Being a good listener is the key to resolving any issues your customer may have.   Remember, If you listen to what they are saying and also how they are saying it, that will help you gain confidence and trust in the eyes of your customer because you will be able to connect with them.

If you dont know the answer, be honest, tell them the truth and that you dont know BUT you will find out the answer and Get Back to them.  Honesty goes along way in business.

Dont bad talk your competitors,  That looks so unprofessional.  It also makes you look insecure.  Remember, you are there to please your customers, NOT your competitors.

And if your competitors are bad mouthing you, ignore them.   Your customers want to see what YOU can do, so focus on your sharpening work and your good customer service.

Our personal business strategy is to be as helpful as we possibly can.  That is one reason we offer FREE Training,  We also make ourselves available for questions on all our services to all our customers.

The Clipper Shack strives for a relaxed work environment, we also want our customers to feel like friends.
Communication and Good customer service is the way to obtain our goal.

Good News from a New Sharpener

Well it was really good hearing from Rodney of New Mexico.  He was never a sharpener in the past but became interested in sharpening after his wife ( a Beautician) kept having to purchase new shears because the sharpeners in her area would shorten the life of her shears by improper sharpening techniques.

Rodney made many calls to the Clipper Shack to discuss him making a scissor machine purchase to do his wife's shears.   ( he also look into the conventional sharpening methods as well, flat hones and vertical grinders)   Rodney did purchase a Ez-Vex and he also came to Ohio for Training.

Rodney sent us a email yesterday,  I thought I'd like to share it with everyone.

Hello Pam & Mike,
I wanted to write to you more than a month ago. But I have been so busy as you know. The demand for a quality (shear) sharpening is high here.
I first talked to you Mike on the phone in December of 2010 .   I was not even thinking of sharpening shears & scissors as a business.
I wanted to learn something about sharpening so that I could sharpen my wife's shears . But once I decided after looking into all the type of ways & different sharpening systems, and having knowledge of metals & machinery, along with you being so helpful & explaining to me everything I need to know about creating a high quality sharpening. I ordered the Ez-Vex.
I received the Ez-Vex on Jan. 11th 2011 . I picked up my wife's shears (3-pairs) which no-longer cut because of previous bad sharpening’s. I sharpened them on the Ez-Vex , ( She's still cutting hair with them today) .
The Ez-Vex paid for itself and the trip out to see Pam & You after only three weeks.
After the confidence you get from doing a professional sharpening it's that easy to get out there and I'm still a greenhorn.
The customer service and help I get from You &Pam is amazing. You helped me (Big) to become successful. It makes me feel good to know you.       Thank you

Color Coated Shears "How to keep them like New"

Today the new trend is Beautiful Coated Shears for Both Pet Groomers and Beautician Stylists.   At many of the Grooming and Beauty Trade Shows you see Vendors with very eye catching color coated convex shears.  Many of those shears are rainbow, blue, pink, green, black and many more.

The Stylists and Groomers pay top dollar for their Titanium Coated Convex Shear.  The last thing they want is for the first sharpener who walks through the door to either Rub off that Gorgeous Finish while sharpening the shear to keep it in its Convex format,  OR  the other choice many sharpeners have is to not touch the pretty finish but instead to put a Micro Bevel edge on a Convex edge shear. (not the same edge as you had when they were new)

Our Belief at the Clipper Shack is to "Do No Harm to the Shear"  That's why we designed our unique system the Ez-Vex.   This is a I.D. Sharpening Hone that allows the Sharpener to work from inside the wheel which creates and leaves a TRUE convex edge on the convex shear.   The finish remains beautiful and like new.

Keeping the shear edge as the factory made it is VERY important.  The Ez-Vex can put a true convex edge on a convex shear and a TRUE bevel edge on a bevel styled shear.   If a sharpener changes the configuration of the Groomer / Stylists Shear, he is doing harm.

We believe "Do No Harm to the Shear"  Check us out at http://www.clippershack.com/
